SCORE - Ventura is On The Move, with a big "Chapter of the Year" award in 2010, a hot new workshop series going on and a new wave of skilled volunteers keeping forces strong for Small Business. . .

SCORE - Ventura is pushing forward after a great 2010 where the Chapter won the applause of the Small Business Administration as "The Chapter of The Year" for its outstanding work for Small Business!

SCORE helps entrepreneurs who are starting in businesses or already in business and looking to develop and expand their enterprise. SCORE offers a variety of services including one-on-one counseling, business seminars, low-cost workshops, organizational tools and templates for building and managing business, assistance with Small Business Administration loans and on-site mentoring. The really cool thing is that almost ALL of SCORE's services are free to the client. There is a registration fee for SCORE's workshops in order to fray the operating costs, but these are kept carefully as low as possible to remain within reach of for the community. 

How does the organization do all this at no or low cost to the client? SCORE, with chapters nation-wide, is driven by a network of volunteer professionals who've "been there, done that" in business. Some retired, some not but all experienced in specialized areas of business - Accounting/Finance, Bookkeeping, Business Technology, Business Loans, Manufacturing, Retail, etc.

Clients are paired with professionals who have expertise in the client's particular area of business interest and need. Let's say. . you wanna' open a retail candy store. SCORE sources its network of professionals to identify an experienced food retailer, maybe even a candy-person! This professional serves as your skilled and experienced Counselor/Mentor focusing on what-ever area of help you're needing.

Also, you might want to participate in SCORE's presently running program titled The SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR WORKSHOP SERIES - a nine-part series started on September 10, 2011. However, you're not too late to get in on the remaining four workshops:
